Roanoke Regional Airport
Nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Allegheny Mountains lies the western Virginia city of Roanoke. The Roanoke Regional Airport has provided air travel services to the area, since it was established in 1929 with two dirt runways and a hangar.
In 1933, Ludington Airlines included a stop at the airport during their commercial flight from New York to Nashville. By 1941, much needed improvements were made to the airport and it was dedicated as Woodrum Field.
General aviation services are provided by Landmark Aviation, the airport's fixed base operator. General aviation services include air charter services, fuel, hangar space, aircraft maintenance and a pilot lounge. Commercial flights to Chicago, Charlotte, New York-LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Orlando, Detroit and Washington-Dulles are available from the four major commercial airlines.
