Kids at Play in Richmond
Traveling with children is a breeze if there’s plenty to see and do – and Richmond is one of those places. Between the amusement parks, city parks, and children’s museums of River City, your kids won’t know where they want to go first.
Our suggestion: the Children's Museum of Richmond. Set in north Richmond neighboring the Science Museum of Virginia, CMOR is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the school year, and 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the summer. Exhibits features fun stuff like tree houses, caves, blocks, and farming – plus the Dino Zone, the 1,000-square-foot Art Studio, and an indoor Safari Train.
And for the thrill seekers in your family, check out Richmond’s nearby theme parks. Set in Doswell, Kings Dominion features over 60 rides – including 15 roller coasters and the 20-acre Waterworks. Coasters include the Dominator, Flight of Fear, and the Intimidator 305, while featured children’s areas like Planet Snoopy and KidZville are popular amongst the little ones. Set in Williamsburg, Busch Gardens features more thrill rides outside of Richmond. Don’t miss the new Verbolten coaster, or the Europe in the Air 3D experience – plus Christmas Town, featuring over five million lights and a 50-foot Christmas tree.
Richmond is a kid-friendly place if ever there was one. Spend your days at the family attractions of River City, and your nights at a Best Western hotel in the Richmond area.
