From: The east. Follow Interstate 66 to Exit 13 at Linden. Then take Route 55 West to Front Royal, which is five miles; continue on to US 340 South for 24 miles into Luray. Formerly Luray Cave, the Luray Caverns are located in northern Virginia near the city of Luray.

A U.S. National Natural Landmark, the caverns were discovered in 1878, and were taken over by the National Park Service in 1974.

Visitors to Luray Caverns need see the Great Stalacpipe Organ, and trek down the half-mile path through the arborvitae hedge maze.

Set in the Shenandoah Valley, Luray Caverns is lit throughout the cave, and draws more than 500,000 annual visitors

Luray Valley Museum

A living museum in the Shenandoah Valley, the Luray Valley Museum is located in northern Virginia in the city of Luray. Focusing on Shenandoah Valley culture, the museum covers seven acres.

The Luray Valley Museum offers 12 historic and recent structures, plus the Stonyman Mining Company Gem Sluice – a replica mining station ideal for kids. Don’t miss the Hamburg Regular School, or the 1825 Elk Run Dunkard Church – a former stomping ground of Civil War soldiers.

Luray Zoo
