Visiting Northern Virginia

Alexandria is rich with colonial history, and this spring is a great time to get a sense of it through the 2015 Alexandia Historic Homes & Gardens Tour. On April 18th, this This Alexandria tradition offers visitors a rare peek into some of the Old Town's historic private homes and gardens. Things get moving at around 10 a.m.
Other historic Alexandria attractions include Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, George Washington Masonic National Memorial, and the Old Presbyterian Meeting House. Of course, you can always just spend the day working on your swing at Greendale Golf Course.
The weather is perfect for visit the countless memorials and historic attractions of Arlington, just north of Alexandria. Arlington is a must for anyone looking to fully experience our nation’s capital – in addition to the well-known Arlington National Cemetery, points of interest include the John F. Kennedy Gravesite and the United States Air Force Memorial.
The Air Force Memorial and the United States Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima) also make great viewing points for Fourth of July Fireworks, which light up the sky over the Potomac River as a part of the U.S. Capitol’s A CAPITOL FOURTH celebration.
Fairfax City celebrates July 4th with the 2015 Independence Day Parade, which runs through the downtown area starting at 10 a.m. And Falls Church has a celebration of their own at George Mason High School, with live music and family fun starting at 7 p.m. and fireworks scheduled for 9:20 p.m.
