Explore the Campus of Virginia Tech and the Appalachian Area

Check out the VA Tech campus and the surrounding areas.

Travel to the Appalachian Mountains of western Virginia and check out the town of Blacksburg. A pleasant and friendly town, Blacksburg combines a mix rich history and sleek modernity. Much of those traits can be found at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute – more commonly known as Virginia Tech. Visit the area and check out a number of impressive and fun attractions, in and around the campus of Virginia Tech.

Established in 1872, Virginia Tech is a public, land-grant university. You can enjoy a tour of the Virginia Tech campus, explore Blacksburg, or take a spin out to nearby cities like Radford and Roanoke

On your Va Tech campus tour, be sure to explore some of the art – check out the second floor gallery at the Holtzman Alumni Center, the Norris Hall Art Gallery, or the Museum of Geosciences at Derring Hall. Many visitors also enjoy taking a peek at the Wooden Kopjafa Memorial and the World on a Pallet sculpture at Brooks Forest Products Center. The Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech is a very popular destination for students, faculty, visitors, and locals.

On your spring or summer visit to Blacksburg, you'll certainly want to explore the VT campus, but don't forget about some top local attractions – play 18 holes at the Blacksburg Municipal Golf Course or try your hand at disc golf at the Golden Hills Disc Golf Course. You can treat the family to a picnic at Toms Creek Park, or enjoy the Hahn Horticulture Gardens

Your visit to Blacksburg will yield a wide range of exciting and impressive college sports – this is Hokies country. Drive in from Hillsville or Wytheville during the fall and check out a VT Hokies football game. Head for Worsham Field at Lane Stadium and check out the college football action. During the winter and into spring, make your way to the Cassell Coliseum, home of the Hokies basketball. Baseball fans visiting during the spring can check out Hokies baseball at English Field
