Summer is the Virginia Beach and Norfolk Area's time to shine. Baseball fans don't have to head all the way up the the Washington, DC area to enjoy America's Pastime – the Norfolk Tides bring MiLB action to Harbor Park in Norfolk all summer long. The month of May brings an amassment of merriment to communities all along Virginia's coastline. On May 5th, visitors can celebrate the "holiest of holidays" in Newport News. Cinco in the City 2016 is a Cinco de Mayo celebration for the ages at the City Center at Oyster Point, where there will be a wide range of entertainment and specialty food offerings.
A couple days later, Hampton kicks of it's spring and summer-long Saturday night party. Each weekend, from May 7th through September 3rd, Hampton's downtown area fills with live music, vendors, and more. The 2016 Downtown Hampton Block Party series of events includes everything from the Downtown Hampton Firk Off to the Rolling of the Bulls and the Drag Race on Queens Way, and more.
It's a bit more peculiar a party in Virginia Beach on May 14th and 15th. The 2016 Pirate Party on the Beach is free, all-ages fun at the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill 17th Street Park in Virginia Beach, with live music, pirate re-enactors, and more.
The weekend of September 2nd, music lovers make their way to Virginia Beach for the 2016 American Music Festival. Held near downtown at the 5th Street Stage, the festival features some of the biggest and best R 'n' B, jazz, rock, and country bands from all around the country. Check back as the festival draws near for lineup announcements and more. The music goes from September 2nd through 4th.
